The Car Repair Mini-Grant is an initiative available to qualified residents of Clay County to assist in paying for needed car repairs. Qualifying families may receive up to $300 to assist in paying for needed car repairs. The purpose of the assistance is to reduce stress related to transportation challenges for at-risk families and in turn reduce the occurrence of child abuse.

Eligibility Criteria
Car Repair Mini-Grants are based on available funding and first come, first served basis. 1) The family must reside in Clay County; 2) The family must have children under the age of 18 living in the home; 3) The family must have a demonstrated need for assistance; 4) The car repair must be completed by a certified mechanic; 5) The family system may only apply and receive a Car Repair Mini-Grant once in a 12 month rolling time period.
Instructions for Referral

1. A Professional Family Advocate (PFA) may request a digital copy of the application by emailing claycounty.cac@gmail.com

2. The PFA working with the family must request, complete and submit the mini-grant application on behalf of the family.
NOTE: Applications will not be accepted directly from the family.

3. The application must include all information and an estimate from a certified mechanic for the needed car repair.
NOTE: The mini-grant is for a needed repair, not to cover an outstanding balance on an already completed repair.

4. Email the completed application and estimate to claycounty.cac@gmail.com

5. A decision regarding funding of the mini-grant is based in part on available funding and will be made in 1-3 business days.

6. If approved, the PFA will be notified by email and asked to notify the family of the award amount.

7. Once the car repair is completed and CAC is notified, the payment is issued by check directly to the mechanic/repair shop.
