As the holiday season approaches, it’s time to get ready for Santa for Seniors. With the awareness of isolation and the effects of inflation, seniors in our county need our support, now more than ever. In some cases, seniors in our area are living on a very limited income and may not be with their families at Christmas. With your help, we can make their holiday season a little jollier and give them something to smile about on Christmas. That’s why Elderbridge Agency on Aging and Upper Des Moines Opportunity have partnered for “Santa for Seniors”. Each senior that is looking to be adopted will request their needs and wants which will include their favorite color and sizes. This information will be used when purchasing a gift. Due to confidentiality, names cannot be disclosed. However, Elderbridge Agency on Aging and Upper Des Moines Opportunity will ensure that the specific senior and sponsor are matched. Due to Covid-19 and the cold/flu season, we are taking precautionary measures to keep our sponsors, staff, and recipients safe. We will have designated times and dates for you to drop off your gifts. We ask that gifts are wrapped and ready to go when they are dropped off at the following address: Attn: Dawn Dahm 19 10th St. SW Spencer, IA 51301. The designated date and time to drop off will be Monday, December 11 from 1:30 PM – 5:00 PM and Tuesday, December 12, from 8:30 to 12:00 PM to ensure gifts reach our seniors in time for Christmas. Santa’s helpers will be distributing gifts after they have been received. If you would like to adopt a senior citizen or multiple seniors, please contact Dawn Dahm from Upper Des Moines Opportunity at 712-262-7409 or by email at ddahm@udmo.com.
