The Clay County Attorney's Office prosecutes criminal acts committed in Clay County. In addition, we represent the State of Iowa in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Committals. The Office also represents DHS in any pending legal cases to include Children in Need of Assistance actions and Termination of Parental Rights hearings. This Office also ensures that Drug Court is operating to its potential.

Eligibility Criteria
Drug Court criteria--a defendant must submit an application to the Department of Correctional Services and they will determine if someone qualifies.
Instructions for Referral

Defendants currently facing criminal charges must ask for an application for Drug Court from their defense attorney, or from the Clay County Attorney’s Office if they are unrepresented.

Important Notice: Care Connections of Northern Iowa Will Close Operations on June 30, 2025

As part of Iowa’s statewide reorganization of behavioral health and disability services, Care Connections of Northern Iowa (CCNIA) will cease all operations effective June 30, 2025. Clients will be transitioned to new service coordination under the awarded Administrative Services Organization and Disability Access Points.

Providers are requested to submit all final invoices for services rendered prior to July 1, 2025, no later than August 10, 2025.
