Palo Alto County Health System offers a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program to help individuals manage the symptoms of drug and alcohol disorders. Research shows that medically assisted treatment is having the highest success rate for treating opioid use disorder. MAT is an evidence-based practice that combines FDA-approved medication with substance abuse counseling and social support and is introducing people to recovery and improving their lives.

Suboxone is one of the most common drugs used in medication-assisted treatment. The medication supplies the body with the chemicals needed to prevent withdrawal and reduces cravings.
