The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is available to Iowa seniors at no cost to the client. Visit shiip.iowa.gov for additional information. SHIIP volunteer counselors are available to help Iowans understand the complexities of Medicare, save on health care costs, and prevent fraud. All SHIIP volunteers are trained in the following areas: Medicare Benefits, Eligibility, and Claims, Medicaid Benefits, Eligibility, and Claims, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans also known as Medicare Part D, Long Term Care Coverage. The SHIIP volunteer counselor for Clay County is located at Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Eligibility Criteria
Available to those who are preparing to enter the Medicare system or are navigating existing benefits.

Important Notice: Care Connections of Northern Iowa Will Close Operations on June 30, 2025

As part of Iowa’s statewide reorganization of behavioral health and disability services, Care Connections of Northern Iowa (CCNIA) will cease all operations effective June 30, 2025. Clients will be transitioned to new service coordination under the awarded Administrative Services Organization and Disability Access Points.

Providers are requested to submit all final invoices for services rendered prior to July 1, 2025, no later than August 10, 2025.
