Upper Des Moines Opportunity (UDMO) offers Children's Programs for qualified families. The Baby's Room contains diapers, wipes, clothing, and other baby items. Parents can shop the Baby’s Room for items for their newborn to 24-month-old child(ren) (items are subject to availability). The Birthday Room is available for children in the household 8 and under. Parents can visit the Birthday Room and choose gifts for their child. Cake mixes, frosting, candles, plates, napkins and other birthday party items will be handed out if available. Back to School Shoes: students receive a voucher to Shoe Sensation to purchase a new pair of boots or shoes. Back to School Supplies: students receive a backpack and grade/school-specific supplies. Coats for Kids: Children 18 years old and under can receive winter coats. UDMO also takes applications for Holiday Programs: Tree of Joy and Adopt-a-Family.

Eligibility Criteria
Families must meet income qualifications to access The Baby's Room, The Birthday Room, Back to School Shoes, Back to School Supplies, Coats for Kids, Tree of Joy, and Adopt-a-Family. Upper Des Moines Opportunity maintains current eligibility information.

Important Notice: Care Connections of Northern Iowa Will Close Operations on June 30, 2025

As part of Iowa’s statewide reorganization of behavioral health and disability services, Care Connections of Northern Iowa (CCNIA) will cease all operations effective June 30, 2025. Clients will be transitioned to new service coordination under the awarded Administrative Services Organization and Disability Access Points.

Providers are requested to submit all final invoices for services rendered prior to July 1, 2025, no later than August 10, 2025.
